Professor Simon Noble
Clinical Professor in Palliative Medicine
Simon Noble is a Clinical Professor in Palliative Medicine at Cardiff University and Honorary Consultant at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport. His research interests include the management of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in cancer, quality of life effects of VTE and their therapies, clinical decision making in VTE management and the patient journey.
He has developed a cancer associated thrombosis (CAT) service which sees 300 new CAT cases per year. His research activity covers laboratory work, clinical trials and patient experience studies. Current projects include the development of a biomarker to quantify thrombotic risk, understanding the patient experience of CAT across different international healthcare settings and evaluating the use of new oral agents in the management of CAT.
He is the Medical Director of Thrombosis UK and sits on several national and international VTE guideline groups.
He has published over 200 original papers and abstracts. He has recently co-edited the “Oxford Textbook of Communication in Oncology and Palliative Care” and has published 27 book chapters within the field of palliative care.
