Dr Saskie Dorman
Consultant in Palliative Medicine
Hello, my name is Saskie. I’m a Consultant in Palliative Medicine at Forest Holme Hospice, an integrated palliative care service which is part of Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. I work across all settings, including community, hospital, outpatient clinics and on the ward at the hospice.
I studied Medicine and Neurophysiology in Cambridge and King’s College London as an undergraduate, and completed specialist training in Wales in 2006 before moving to Poole.
My research interests include nausea, vomiting, breathlessness, and understanding complexity.
In day to day practice I’m interested in what makes people tick, and finding ways to learn and improve stuff together.
I’m chair of the Dorset End of Life Care Partnership, committed to working with the local community to improve palliative and end of life care. We are trying to use a systems-thinking approach to improve, both at a local level in the hospice, and more widely across Dorset.
I’m really looking forward to the conference and delighted to help organise it.
If you could improve one thing about palliative and end of life care, what would it be?
