Dr Polly Edmonds

Speakers [2019]

Polly qualified from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School and was the first consultant appointed to the Palliative Care Team at King’s College Hospital in 1997. The service has now developed to one that now has a high profile across the trust and saw over 2200 patients over both the Denmark Hill and PRUH sites in 2015-16.

In addition to her clinical commitments Polly is involved in specialist training locally and nationally. She is vice-chair of the palliative medicine SAC, is working on behalf of the SAC to develop an updated curriculum in preparation for the changes anticipated with the implementation of the Shape of Training recommendations, and is a question writer and chair of the standard setting group for the specialty certificate examination.

Since 2011 Polly has been working in senior management roles at King’s (initially as an assistant medical director and now as clinical director for cancer and end of life care.) She has been the trust cancer lead clinician since 2011. Most recently she has been working across the Denmark Hill and PRUH sites to support clinical colleagues to improve cancer diagnostic pathways for patients and to improve the governance around the delivery of cancer services on the King’s sites.
