Dr Alison Mitchell

Dr Alison Mitchell graduated from Dundee in 1986 and trained in anaesthetics prior to senior registrar training in Palliative Medicine. She was appointed as a Consultant in Palliative Medicine in the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre in 2002. Her clinical work in the cancer centre includes MDT working in gynaecological cancer, Neuro-oncology, and for patients with sarcoma. She has a specific interest in Teenage and Young Adults with Cancer.  Since 2007 she has been the Clinical Lead for the Interventional Cancer Pain Service service for the West of Scotland and is an enthusiastic advocate for the appropriate use of interventions for cancer related pain. She has a longstanding interest and commitment to medical education having served as Vice Chair of the SAC for Palliative Medicine. .  Outside of work her time is occupied by family, cycling and rugby.
